Happy Anniversary!

Hello, fellow cake enthusiasts!  So it's been a year since Mad Love Creations first took off.  In honor of the occasion, I'm going to repost pictures of our very first cake-- the inspiration for it all.  The Harley Quinn and Joker themed "Mad Love" wedding cake!

Our pride and joy.  That's me on the left and Sarah on the right!

The happily mad couple!

Us again the night before the wedding with the concept art I drew for the cake!

"We're all mad here." ;)

Also, for that same funky bride's birthday party just last week, I made the following awesomeness: A rainbow piñata cake!

Why yes, that is a Halloween pumpkin candle on her June birthday cake.  Because we're cool like that.

Are those M&M's spilling out of the inside of the cake?  I think yes.

The cake itself was one of my go-to (yet again) pound cake recipes.  It is flavored by creamer, in this case, Creme Brulee flavored Coffee Mate.  It's delicious.  I separated the batter and colored each section with the Wilton gel icing colors (they're wonderful I highly recommend!) and filled the layers with Nutella.  Whaaaaat!

Have I mentioned how awesome I am?  No?  Okay well I'm doing it now.

I'm awesome.

Baby Cakes

Hello everyone!  So I know I haven't posted in a while, but be ready to get your face rocked off by adorable baby's first birthday cakes!

Back at the end of November, my nephew had his first birthday and the theme was animals/circus.  So this is the result:

I used to have more pictures, but my phone went wonky and deleted them all!  But as you can see, there's a lion, a giraffe, and a monkey made to look like stuffed animals that matched the decorations. Animal crackers lined the bottoms of the layers and I used the extra batter to make some cupcakes with yellow icing and rainbow sprinkles. Simple and cute.

The cake was blueberry pound cake with another layer of blondies on the bottom.  It says "Wild 1" on it.  Get it??

And today, six months later, was my niece's first birthday party.  Her theme was Under-the-Sea and I was "o-FISH-ally" invited! ;)

This cake was my favorite to make thus far.  I got to get all detailed with the animals and make them as cartoonish as I wanted!

They were a hit.

The octopus was actually made by covering a glass bulb decanter with fondant and pressing it into the cake.  It made her the perfect shape!

This is definitely the most detailed cake I ever made, but by far the most fun.  It's so girly I love it!

A sting ray. . .

A cute lil' crab. . .

Some sea horses, turtles and startfish!

My mom said that I should open a bake shop called "By the Pound" because all I make are pound cakes in a thousand different varieties.

I made a cookies 'n' cream pound cake for the occasion!

It was quickly demolished.

Looking forward to making the next one!  Any takers? ;)
